What is a proof of origin of funds?

A proof of origin of funds is a document that clearly shows how and when assets came into your possession. This can be evidenced by various documents that prove the origin of your funds.

Valid proof of origin of funds in detail

Documents that can be used as proof of origin for Bitcoin purchases are listed below in respective categories. However, please note that, depending on various factors, more than the documents and evidence listed may need to be submitted.

If a self-custody wallet (Bitbox, Ledger, Trezor etc.) is used for storing the respective crypto assets, an excerpt of the wallet's transaction history must always be submitted.

Income from services

  • Invoices for services paid for with cryptocurrencies
    AND

  • Screenshot of the payment from the respective wallet
    AND

  • Wallet addresses on which the corresponding values have been paid out, additionally if different, currently located and the transaction IDs

Cryptocurrencies purchased through other brokers and exchanges

  • Screenshots of purchase, deposit and withdrawal confirmations showing your user ID or any other unique identifier and all transaction details
    OR

  • Invoices that prove the purchase (OTC)
    AND

  • Wallet addresses where the corresponding assets have been sent to and additionally, if different, the wallet addresses where the assets are currently stored, including transaction IDs

Mining

  • Proof of ownership of mining equipment (e.g. photos, invoices)
    AND

  • Screenshots of the mining platform/pool showing income, hashrates and number of miners
    AND

  • Screenshots or email confirmations of transaction history to and from wallets showing wallet addresses and transaction hashes
    AND

  • Wallet addresses to which the corresponding assets have been sent to and additionally, if different, the wallet adresses where the assets are currently located, including transaction IDs

Staking

  • Transaction history showing staking deposits, withdrawals and gains, including yield rates and staking period
    AND

  • Wallet addresses to which the corresponding assets have been sent to and additionally, if different, the wallet adresses where the assets are currently located, including transaction IDs

Trading profits made on other brokers and exchanges

  • Screenshots of the transaction history showing the profits made on other brokers or exchanges as well as the deposits and withdrawals
    AND

  • Exchange account screenshots showing your account detail.
    AND

  • Wallet addresses to which the corresponding assets have been sent to and additionally, if different, the wallet adresses where the assets are currently located, including transaction IDs
