General information and notes
With a signed message, you prove that you are the owner of a specific Bitcoin address.
The procedure described here applies to Card Wallet – we currently recommend using our mobile app.
Only use the QR codes and data from your own wallet or from your Coinfinity account—not those from this guide.
To make a sale, it is mandatory to add an extended public key (XPUB, YPUB, or ZPUB).
None of these steps are necessary for purchases and sales in the Coinfinity in-app wallet.
Schritt 1 – Login Coinfinity App
Log in to the Coinfinity app.
When you are logged in, click on the user button (a) in the top right corner. A menu will then appear – click on "My Wallets" (b).
If you have already created an in-app wallet, it will already be listed there (c). If you want to make a purchase or sale using this wallet, you do not need to follow the next steps.
To add a new wallet and then confirm it, proceed to step 2.
Step 2 – Add and confirm wallet
These instructions refer explicitly to a card wallet. Links to the other instructions can be found HERE.
At the top of the screen, you will find the "Add Wallet" button (d). Click on it and then select the Card Wallet (e).
In the next step (f), give your wallet a name. It is best to choose a name (g) that will allow you to clearly identify which of your wallets it is later on.
Scan Bitcoin Address
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the security seal from the card wallet. The required QR codes are already exposed.
Next, you need to add the Bitcoin address. To do this, click on the scan icon in the empty field under the "Scan the address" tab (h). Then point the camera at the front of your card wallet. Scan the QR code there (i). The Bitcoin address should then be entered automatically in the app (j).
Scan CLC
IMPORTANT: Do not remove the security seal from the card wallet. The required QR codes are already exposed.
Now you need to enter the ChainLockCode (CLC). To do this, click on the scan icon in the empty field under the "Scan the CLC" tab (k). Then point the camera at the back of your Card Wallet. Scan the QR code labeled "CLC ChainLockCode" (l). The code should then be automatically entered into the app (m).
Confirm
Then click on "Confirm" (m).
If the "Confirm" button is not orange, something has gone wrong. What could happen?
It is possible that you have already confirmed the wallet.
It is possible that you have mixed up the QR codes.
It is possible that you scanned the same QR code twice.
Step 3 – Security clearance via email
After you have added your wallet, we will automatically send you an email with a six-digit confirmation code. (n)
ATTENTION: This verification is required for every external wallet you register with Coinfinity. You cannot use the wallet without entering this code.
The code is valid for 10 minutes. Before entering the code, you must confirm that the wallet is a self-hosted wallet. To do this, check the box in the interface. (o)
Then enter the six-digit code from your email into the input field. (p)
Click on "Add wallet" to complete the process. (q)
Once your wallet has been successfully confirmed, you will see all confirmed wallets and addresses listed in the "My wallets" menu. You can now select from the confirmed wallets/addresses for each purchase. ®
IMPORTANT: If you interrupt the code entry process, the wallet will still be displayed in your overview, but will remain listed as "Waiting for code." If you decide to use the wallet a little later, you will need to request a new code, as the original one will have expired after 10 minutes.
If you receive an error message during the process, check the code or request a new one if necessary. (s)
