Proof of origin of funds
Updated over 5 months ago

We regularly check the volume of your Bitcoin purchases or sales. If it looks like your next investment will exceed the set limit, we will inform you in advance. Our aim is to ensure that your activities run smoothly.

You can find your personal limit, within which Bitcoin purchases or sales can be carried out, at any time in your profile under the account settings in Fees & Limits. If you are planning to invest a larger amount, we will ask for proof of the origin of your funds.

What is a proof of source of funds?

A proof of origin is a document that clearly shows how and when funds came into your possession. This can be evidenced by various documents that prove the origin of your funds.

Examples of EUR proof of origin:

  • Three consecutive payslips (not older than 6 months)

  • Pension statements (not older than 6 months)

  • Current tax return

  • Contract (real estate sale, car sale, sale of company share, sale of collector's items, etc.)

  • Notarial evidence from a state-recognized notary of an inheritance or gift

  • Proof of income from renting and leasing (e.g. rental agreement and receipt of rent)

  • Balance sheet, annual report

  • Gift notification to the tax office from EUR 50,000

If you did not purchase Bitcoin directly from us, we accept the following BTC proofs:

  • Confirmation emails from the merchant or exchange you purchased from with details of quantity, wallet address, date of purchase and buyer's name.

  • Invoices for Bitcoin received as payment for services or the sale of goods, including the wallet address.

  • For Bitcoin acquired through mining, we require invoices for the mining hardware, a list of your electricity costs and details of the wallet to which the Bitcoin was transferred.

Why is proof of origin of funds required?

In accordance with Section 6 (1) of the Financial Markets Money Laundering Act (FM-GwG), which describes the due diligence obligations, we are obliged to verify the origin of our customers' funds.
